Selective Service System

It is time to abolish the Selective Service

The Selective Service is an antiquated, legacy program that has outlived its usefulness to America.

According to the Selective Service website, the program’s mission is “To register men and maintain a system that, when authorized by the President and Congress, rapidly provides personnel in a fair and equitable manner while managing an alternative service program for conscientious objectors.”

Recently, the legal system debated whether women should continue to be excluded from the draft. A better discussion would be whether the draft should be abolished. Regardless of who is supposed to register, the program is ineffective, costly, and unnecessary.

Baking Cakes

After a return trip from Afghanistan, I was driving through East Texas, and stopped at a small town gas station. I left the gas pumping and went in to use the bathroom. Due to my black beard and darker skin, the two fellows manning the gas station apparently assumed I was not only Arab, but a terrorist, and used colorful racist insults while contemplating their next move. While I was in the bathroom, they considered breaking into the bathroom and assaulting me, in case I had a suicide vest on. I walked out instead of buying road trip snacks, but I was livid that I had already paid them $40 for gas. Had they simply had a sign outside saying “No Ragheads or Sand N*****s Allowed”, I would have never spent any money there. I still get angry when I think about that $40.

American citizens who move abroad are still taxed by the IRS and the IRS demands that foreign banks give them information on accounts held by Americans. As a result, it can be …

Veterans tend to support liberty-leaning candidates and positions more than the average American citizen does. Libertarian Veterans can be found along the entire liberty-oriented political spectrum, from the radical margins of Anarcho Capitalism (and Communism for that matter) to mainstream …
