It will be interesting to follow Meghan Markle’s story over the next several months as she deals with many complexities, including the IRS. American citizens who move abroad are still taxed by the IRS and the IRS demands that foreign banks give them information on accounts held by Americans. As a result, it can be very difficult for Americans living abroad to open bank accounts or live normal lives. This causes many to renounce their American citizenship. Are policies that encourage this really in the best interest of the United States and our citizens? Will Meghan renounce her American citizenship to prevent the IRS from prying into royal bank accounts that should be none of their business?
